Pilgrim: A Scientist Walks To Santiago

I am delighted to announce that at long last, my book of reflections based on the Camino de Santiago is available.

In 2013 and again in 2017, I walked the road to the shrine of St James in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. On the way I met incredible people and had mostly-wonderful adventures, but more importantly, found a degree of self-knowledge and personal integration that changed my life.

In this book, I present a series of reflections based on themes from my work as a scientist, in which I explore how my faith and scientific work have grown together as ways of loving and experiencing the world. My experience is certainly not everybody’s, but I do hope you enjoy sharing it!

I have a small number of signed hardback copies available through this website:

(Please let me know if you have any problems ordering!)

The book is also available as a hardback, softcover, PDF or eBook from blurb

Image Gallery

My favourite aspect of the book is the photographs that evoke such special memories. I am proud of the quality of the reproduction, and offer here some additional comments and stories about the pictures, that did not make it into the book: (Hover over a picture to see the caption / explanation)

Future Plans

I am tremendously excited about this book, but this is not the end of the journey.

Later this year (2019) I plan to walk a completely different pilgrimage route, and write a new series of illustrated reflections, as I continue to journey of the scientist-pilgrim. Watch this space!
